Così Bagatti Valsecchi descrive villa Buttafava ("Ville della Brianza", 1978).

"La villa è costituita da un parallelepipedo tutto su due piani appena articolato, secondo gli schemi tradizionali, con modesti avancorpi a sud che richiamano le ali canoniche.
Lo schema iconografico di recupero stilistico delle tipologie tradizionali barocche e in qualche misura neoclassiche delle ville della Brianza e del Milanese è poco più che una veste esteriore, essendo l'impianto distributivo interno piuttosto libero, con pochi grandi saloni intercomunicanti (uno dei quali occupa l'intera testata e l'avancorpo Ovest): sono tutti opera ottocentesca romantica, con arredamento in stile di buon livello sistemato dai nobili Buttafava. Il salone centrale e la biblioteca sono a cassettoni con rosoni..."

"The villa is constituted by a parallelepiped all on two floors hardly articulated, according to the traditional schemes, with modest south projections that recall the canonical wings. The iconographic scheme of the traditional Baroque typologies style recovery and in some measure neoclassic of the villas of the Brianza and of the Milanese is few more than an external dress, being the inside distributive plan rather free, with few great communicating saloons (one of which occupies the whole heading and the projection West): they all are work of the romantic nineteenth-century , with furnishing in style of good level systematized by the noble Buttafava. The central saloon and her library have coffered ceilig with rosettes... "
